Recently, Meta announced the suspension of its professional fact-checking programme in the United States. This has raised concerns among other fact-checkers partners around the world. They are curious to know how this integration will harm them and if they have to revive their strategies and processes in the future. Even though, Meta has made it clear that this decision only applies to the US and not other countries for this moment. By ending its third-party fact-checking, Meta plans to replace it with a community-driven initiative like X’s Community Notes.
Many industry experts and social media users have stated that ceasing off this programme could leave users around the globe at risk of misinformation.
